In theory a chain is 97% efficient and a shaft is around 78% efficient, at
least that was what they taught me in motorcycle mechanic classes I took
back in the late 70s, so on paper that might be close, but while I was
having my Max dynoed last year the owner of the shop told me he had dynoed
several chain drive max's and there was not much difference and some made
less!
