Actually, shaft drive on a Vmax is only 73% efficient because you are
driving through two sets of bevel gears (145 crankshaft horsepower - about
105 rear wheel HP). Chain drive is 93% efficient and belt drive is 99%.
Chain is less efficient than belt due to friction, but it is a lot easier to
change final gear ratio at the track with chain! I have one of each i.e.: a
shaft drive '85 and a chain drive '86. Did I mention that the '86 is blown
and injected with alcohol? It's running a 10 x 15 Mickey Thompson. Right now
it is stripped down... the frame is on a jig: the guy who had this thing
before me "farm engineered" a lot of it and although I rode it a couple of
times I didn't trust my life to it at the big end of the track. I will try
to get some pictures in progress on the site.
On another note, Don, I'm am very interested in a spin-on oil filter
conversion (or two). Can you fix me up?

P.S. Did I note (tongue-in-cheek) a litte antagonism toward Mr. Civitelo?

Talk about a line of BS. What can you expect!
