Mike,
Make sure you have not introduced an air leak. If you haven't done so
... you need to get the pilot mixture screws out of there ... They are
vertical and are accessed from the top of the carb near the intake
opening, (just like the Vmax .. you have to drill the plugs out). Once
out you can blast this opening with compressed air ... (be sure to
record the initial settings so that you can put them back that way or
the same way plus a 1/2 turn or so extra and the cap them when done
with 1/4 inch plastic plugs you can buy at the hardware store). As an
alternative ... if you are lazy or don't want to risk breaking a
mixture screw, (since you are selling this to buy a Vmax right ??),
you can put compressed air at the primary pilot air jet, (which in
your case is behind the slide rubber). If you need additional
assistance or want a carb diagram etc ... take it off line and email
me directly .... This is a Vmax oriented list ... and while I realize
that there is a Virago on the cover of most of the Vmax service
manuals ... and that you are doing this to buy a Vmax ... we will end
up in the principal's office if we don't move this off line, (I can
feel him staring at me ... and I am not even in the same state !!).
