I have to agree with TC on this one. Offset is not that uncommon on bikes,
by and large with no ill effects, as long as the plane of rotation is
congruent between front and rear. In some custom harleys the offset is
REALLY obscene, with the combination of belt drive and huge rear tires
creating 4-6 INCH offsets in some cases. (No one accuses them of handling
well, of course) As Bob notes, with really large offsets assymetry will show
up in cornering, but there are usually offsetting factors, such as lateral
weight differences, that oppose the assymetric alignment factors. Just my
two pesos...
