Oh, maaaaann....
I knew as soon as I let the cat out of the bag someone else would
do it too! So much for unique. . . ;-)
Okay, if you're interested in doing it, here's what was involved:
Rear:
o Make a spacer plate to move the drive splines out from the rim
about 1/3".
o Make a spacer plate to move the brake rotor to the right about
1/3".
o Make a spacer for the axle, about 1/4" to move the caliper
hanger to the right.
o Cut off the beads, weld on new beads for 5.5" wide, 17" diameter.
Front:
o Machine the hub to narrow it. The stock Venture wheel is too
wide for the Vmax forks- the brake rotors hit the fork legs.
Other considerations:
o When assembling the rear, you have to mount the wheel on the
pumpkin with the brake rotor loose- Otherwise you won't be able
to get the caliper on the rotor. (there's not enough clearance
to do it with the rotor bolted to the wheel)
o It took Kosman about six months to do the work. And they didn't
polish the new beads welded on, nor did they even clean off the
flash from the welding. I have to provide that elbow grease myself.
Still want to do it? ;-)
