I own the following bikes: 2000 Yamaha YZF-R1; 2000 Harley Sportster 883;
1999 Harley Sportster Sport 1200; 1998 Yamaha VMAX; 1987 Yamaha Radian 600;
and 1980 Yamaha DT175 Enduro (my personal favorite -- just add gas/Yamalube,
and ride). They all get along fine.
On a more serious note though, I encourage anyone and everyone who owns or
will own a VMAX which shakes, weaves, wobbles, etc., or is otherwise just
fine, to read thoroughly the Suspension and Chassis Tuning Guide featured in
the June edition of Sport Rider Magazine. I believe the information found
there to be the perfect "finishing touch" with which to complement the many
VMAX chassis improvements that I've read about the last few years in the
Tech List. Tankslappers and other exciting events are dealt with along with
suggested adjustments and explained in very good detail. One particular
item, setting the Static Sag of the suspension (front and rear) is the first
step in establishing a "base" from which to make chassis/suspension
adjustments so your VMAX will work well at both ends. Take a look and let
the list know your experiences/thoughts. T. C. Howery VMOA #662.
