At first, I also wanted a bone stock Vmax.  I wanted to have the pleasure
and experience of customizing it myself.  The bike I ended up with already
had many of the modifications I wanted.  I saved a bunch of money and
effort.  I've still done many things to it and plan to do many more.  An '86
with 7k miles?!?  I rode  more than that just last year. A lot of joy
associated with owning anything is being able to customize it to suite the
individuals needs and goals.

As far as after market parts go, It just amazes me that the Europeans who
manufacture some of the best parts don't make it easy to export to the US
and elsewhere.  They are missing many market opportunities and potential
sales.  Perhaps that will change as Commerce becomes more prevalent.
