Thomas,
I know you just put this guy back together ... and I am sure you are
aware that an exhaust leak can contribute to deceleration backfire,
(so can the intake for that matter). However ... with the popping and
such .. it sure sounds like you are running extremely lean on the
pilots ... and that you are still running on carbs ... Have you blown
these guys out yet ?? You might be one who really needs the 42.5 pilot
jets !! ...... IMHO .....
