I read a lot about grounding the rectifier/regulator unit on the Vmax with a
wire from the casing to ground.

When I checked mine on my 97 model (Y.O.M. 96), as well as the new one I
bought for it, I could find no connection to ground via the casing from any
of the connecting wires which means, or so I assume, there's no internal
ground connection. The circuit diagram in the shop manual doesn't show one
either. So apart from making sure there's a good thermal contact for
cooling, what good will running a ground wire from the unit to the frame do?

Or could this be a difference between mine and later models?
