You sure can take it off ... and cut out the half moon directly behind
the "Y". I think though ... a lot of people just prefer to do a few
holes in order to obtain some benefit while avoiding more significant
jetting adjustments that would normally be required by removing it
completely. The arrangement on your '99 is the same on all Vmaxes,
(stock). You really need to check out ...
