longer 5th gear and other gearbox stuffPatrick,
Your too much !! This will be outstanding to find out once and for all
if these will really work ...
OK ... there is a downloadable "speedmax" program on my web site ...
http://tcamp30.home.pipeline.com/ ... It is a "Microsoft Works"
spreadsheet that allows you to change rear end ratio .... rolling
wheel diameter etc ... for each gear to see the speed in any gear at
any RPM. I made the sheet a "Works" format since that seems to come on
most computers. If you want Excel .. I will email one directly to you
... Anyhow ... I turned the protection off and changed 5th gear from
stock .93, (26/28 teeth), to the Royal gearset ratio .75, (21/28
teeth).

If this works you will get the "Big Cahouna Award" for Y2K ... as this
really is having your cake and eating it too ... (the first 4 gears
stock to dispatch non-beleivers and 5th to cruise long distance ..
without having to change the rear end ... ;>0 ) ....... The following
"difference" was calculated using a stock 9/33 rear end , middle gear,
primary drive and a stock 12.47 inch rolling diameter tire .......
The "spreadsheet" displays overall ratio etc ... which in 5th is 4.70
with Maxie gears and 3.80 with Royal gears .......

All 5th gear ..... speed in "MIles per Hour"

RPM Vmax .93 Royal .75 - gears
3500 55.28 68.39
4500 71.07 87.94
5500 86.86 107.48
6500 102.65 127.02
7500 118.45 146.56
8500 134.24 166.10

I finally got a look at the gears from Eiffelmax.
Now I want to compare them to the Royal Star gears.

What I also like to know is how to calculate the speed
in each gear when I do changes:
- what is the number of teeth on the 1st pinion
- what is the final drive ratio
I bet someone of you did this before. Excel sheet maybe?
