Sat Tara,
I really appreciate you guys taking all this time to help me. Actually,
I've checked (blown through) the gas cap both ways every time, and there's
no air draw into the tank when I take it off. I'll try running it with the
gas cap off next time (if I can get a spare key made before it happens
again). As for the vent tubes, the only one I found had a check valve in
the middle of it, and though it seemed to be working correctly, I replaced
it just the same. I also blew through the upper part of the hose it was
connected to (shall I describe the position I had to assume to do so?) and
found it to be free and clear. I agree with both you and TC that it's a
fuel starvation problem, but it almost feels as if the pump (which, as you
know, I replaced two weeks ago) was suddenly and sporadically shutting
down. Sometimes, it'll bog down and kick back up again even before I can
roll to a stop. This is going to sound silly, but the only consistent thing
I found when IT happens is... the weather. Hot and humid. Every time la low
pressure front pops through, I end up pushing. I guess that if all else
fails, I can always move to Tahoe.
