Jacques,
What I am calling the "ignitor" is also know as the TCI unit,
(Transistor Control Ignition .. per the manual for the 4-pickup coil
units). Later models with the single pickup coil is referred to as the
DICS, (Digital Ignition Control System), in the service manual. In
either case ... it is responsible for firing your 4 ignition coils and
is located in a tray mounted behind the front ignition coils.
There are no differences between the French and US version ignitor
that would prevent the US ignitor from working satisfactorily.
It is unfortunate that you do not have accessible Vmax owners ... it
makes all the difference in the world when you have something like
this going on. Perhaps you should check out some of the Vmax clubs in
your area or the VMOA - European site to see if you might whip up a
nearby owner.
The site T86, (below), is referring to for repair is Rocky Mountain
Sportmax in Denver, http://www.rmsportmax.com/ ... You can also get
these units repaired in Europe of course .. and one place I can think
of off the top of my head is Exactrep,
http://www.vmax.co.uk/adverts/exactrep.htm ...... Check their product
price list for this service ...
Look at the microfiche at ...
http://www.hlsm1.com/hlsm2_cgiwin/yam_mc.exe?model_list if you want to
get an idea where the ignitor is located, (you can not use the ones
listed though as they are for single pickup coil models only).
