Dennis. Yes the oil sight glass can be changed. Drain oil, Using a small
head common screw driver slide the tip along the glass and dig it under the
lip of the rubber seal. Make sure you do not press inward for the sight
glass can be pushed into the engine. Now with the screw driver under the lip
of the seal pull outward until the glass comes out. Now clean the area where
the new seal will go into with a solvent to remove any oil. Now put a thin
coat of black RTV or equivalent to the oil seal and to the area on the block
where the seal will go into. Let stand for about 5 minutes and install the
seal back into the block slowly back to where the rubber on the sight glass
is flush with the block. Wipe off excess RTV and let sit for 24 hours before
adding oil back into the block. This should last a while but not forever.
