Well folks the SPA tach works . It is one very nice piece of equipment .
The tach. is so responsive . It runs with the engine with no lag or over
run. I haven't got the speedo working yet but if it is half as good as
the tach. I'll be very happy . So far the support from Ron Mathis at SPA
Technique has been first class and I'm sure that the speedo section will
work . What I've ended up with is a 12,000 rpm with the first 4000
compresed stepper motor driven tachometer, a digital speedometer that
it's characters are 5/16 " tall so you can see them quite easily , a
built in three stage programable shift light that can be programed in
100 RPM increments and some other goodies that I'm not concerned with at
this time, all mounted in the original factory speedo housing and bezel
and mounted in the original position on the bike . The housing did take
some work but anyone can do this with some patience and basic hand tools
. I've taken some pics. of the step by step procedures and will post
them as soon as can get some help . I do not know how to put pictures on
the net . You see I'm still a caveman when it comes to computers :) .
