I am a firm believer in "what ever it takes". Saying that, here are some numbers. My bike has a flat HP curve from 8500 to 9500 only 1.6hp change. The max torque is at 6000. The torque drops off steadily after 8000. Yes, the bike will pull to 11000. I found this out after I lost traction at Moroso Drag strip and went through 2nd and 3rd with the tire spinning at 11,000 rpm , this still haunts me. Back to the point, to stay in the max hp and keeping torque in mind I have my shift light set at 9200 this takes me to 95-9600 when I actually shift. Also as has been previously stated the tac is a little slower than the light. I do have a rev limiter and usually keep it set at 10,000 but I did not have It hooked up that night. Seeing the inside of my engine first hand, I recommend staying out of the white on the right side of the tac. Paul 85 V-max VMOA 1141. .............................................
