hey Charles, it sounds like you already know what you want to do, and its OK,
we'll all still like you, its OK to like other bikes, no really if i were
you id buy a sportbike, whatever you like, if you like busa's ( i do ) then
buy one R1,900rr,929,RC51,blackbird, superhawk, fire chicken, whatever as long
as your really into it, because as much as i like my bike , i realize it cant
do everything , my max is an 88 with only 3900 miles, 94 front end, stage 7,
lowered, furbers frame braces, seat, and solid mounts, and plan to put one of
the turbos i have on it this winter,(or maybe ill just save it for a future
bike) but if i could afford to buy another bike it would definitely be a
superbike, if i could have three i would also have a goldwing, ive had
another max a few years ago (another 88) i actually had both of them next to
each other for a few weeks until i sold the other,no sense having two max's,
but it sure would be great having a max and a sportbike, all my close friends
that i grew up with racing motocross all have sportbikes now and sometimes
when we go racing..i mean riding i find myself wanting one.. real bad , ive
actually thought of selling my max for a sportbike but i know id miss it too
much so ill probably do the same as you have and save for another, besides
the normal mods i wouldnt buy a new max and put another ten grand into it
trying to make it something its not , although it should be, but thats
yamahas fault, they really should have changed the bike long ago, not the
style but all the bracing and everything else we have to do, they should have
done , i mean look at all the engineering that goes into an R1 for instance
for about the same money, it aint right, so anyway go look, and ride, and
buy what you like for yourself and youll be happy, take care vinny
