To install my spa tach I mounted mine into the factory white internal housing by
modifing it with a hack saw.

1- After removing the stock unit from the bike remove the chrome housing then the
bracket mark the white housing so you know which is the top)
2- Next you need to remove the chrome bezel which is the hardest part of this
installation. I used a flat screwdriver and carefully pryed it off a little at a time.
Key word is carefully. The neater you are the better it will look when finished. Pry
it just enough to get the white housing out.
3- Take the old speedo out and slide the spa tach into the white housing. You will
need to remove 2 sections of the housing for the tach to slide all the way in.
4- you also have to cut the front lip of the white housing to compensate for the
thickness of the new tach face.
5- I drilled the white housing for 1 of the studs on the new tach, and bolted the new
tach to the white housing(make sure the tach is straight and the housing is right side
up). This is only for assembly to hold it together. The bezel will hold it all
together tight.
6- Carefully re-roll the bezel back over the modified white housing and tach (make
sure the white housing is right side up and the tach is straight)I simply used a
screwdriver and pushed the bezel lip back over the housing.
7- Reinstall the bracket, wiring harness and chrome outer housing. I drilled 2 holes
in the back of the chrome housing and screwed it to the white internal housing.
8- Bolt it back on the bike.
9- You can see a pic of a bracket I made to mount the new speedo sensor to the front
wheel.
