I think the only way to allow some levity and courtesy without
screwing up the search is to either try to include it, ("thanks for
nothing dufus" or "tell your mother I had a good time"),  with
legitimate responses or change the "subject" line, (which should be
changed anyhow as the topic wanders), to "trash", "unrelated" or
something similar. Of course if you really dedicate entire messages to
unrelated responses .. it is just a matter of time anyhow.... Creative
"snipping" of original messages helps to cut down the volume as well
... just leaving enough so someone can figure out what you are
responding too.
