OK,
just got the bike back today, after making the solid mounts in Delrin and following
the drawings made by Johan Kjellberg and John (thanks again guys).

I was a bit concerned about the tolerances, but they went straight in where the lousy
rubber was living. I thought that the silent blocks had a steel outer ring, but not
so, just a badly made piece of rubber and an inner steel tube piece where the bolts
go.

Some of the original pieces came out cracked or in very poor condition, which makes me
think on how it will be for bikes with some years on their backs, as I only have 7500
miles.

As for the test that followed I can say that I took it easy for a while, just to make
sure nothing was left loose or unadjusted.

I have a 100 mph curve as I come in to the city which has been for me the perfect
place to feel the weave and where sometimes I had to keep accelerating to be able to
control the bike. This time I rode through that place three consecutive times between
100 and 110 mph ( I'm not sure about the speed since my tacho/speedo from SPA has not
been completed and the speed sensor is not yet installed), but the bike feels so
stable, solid and strong, that I have no words to explain how much better the bike
feels now. I felt as if I could have been doing a much higher speed for the bike
seemed to be capable of handling the situation regardless of the speed.

Don't know other people's feelings, but for me the solid motor mount modification is
the one and only mod. that will transform the bike from a jelly baby to a steel dart.

Now I have something to compare it with and that is my CBR 929 RR and there I'm afraid
to say we are still a tad heavy. Nevertheless I want to dare anyone with that machine
to beat the Max at the traffic lights, no way son, the locomotive just rolls away
while the CBR is trying to keep the front wheel on the ground. Once you reach the 70
mph it will be right behind you, but you have just arrived to the next set of traffic
lights...........

Who said vibration?
Yes I'm sorry to say so, since after you pass the 6500 rpm the mirrors are useless.
Has anybody tried sorting this problem out? (maybe mounting a pair of the old rubber
mounts at the base of the mirror would do the trick). In my case I constantly use the
rear view mirrors to control the situation at all times. Now it is not possible to see
what is happening behind me and that I do not like.

My opinion is that YOM should have addressed this problem before and fixed the motor
to the frame, but never mind, as I've said several times before, it is so rewarding to
make this project bike become a real bike, that it even makes it worth while
purchasing this bike since every step you take into improving it feels like a personal
achievement, even when it is through this tech group that you learn how to do mods,
that's why this group was created!

Brakes are the next issue. When you try and test perfection, you only want the same
and I want to know how to improve the braking possibilities of the Max. The CBR is
absolutely perfect, you just need one finger at all times. What can you do to improve
the braking on a 2000 Max?

Best regards to all,
