My 1999 max had no gaps, so no shims were used, had to use a steel washer on all of
them since I felt I did not want to bite the Delrin solid mount with the nuts. One way
or the other if you feel the bike is behaving perfectly, why should you worry, maybe
your frame stretched a bit so a bit of tightening can do no harm. Mind you, I used the
AutoCAD drawing sent by John and from the dwgs. Johan Kjellberg made so check your
measurements to make sure you made them according to specs.
