I was talking to a few bike mechanics today and one says that the heads can
be removed while still in the frame without loosening the mounts and the
second mechanic thought that it couldn't be done. The first mechanic had
just gotten finished doing a valve job and said he did not remove engine to
get both heads off. Who has done this and what happened? Did you try to
remove heads while in frame or just assume, as I did, that the engine has to
be removed? In my manual in the section on engine removal it states that;
clutch, carburetor, water pump and AC magneto can all be removed without
engine removal but, doesn't mention anything about heads.
