Sandro,
I suspect you have a wiring problem or more likely a bad sending unit,
(mounted in the bottom of the fuel tank).
Yomama part no: 1FK-85752-00-00 SENDER UNIT ASSY, FUEL METER 48.22
list, 37.09, (USD), from HLSM or possibly cheaper from K&N with a VMOA
discount.
There is a black and green wire connected to the sending unit at the
tank. If you short them together, (equivalent of being low on fuel),
the fuel lamp should light on the instrument panel, (and then the pump
should stop unless you operate the "reserve" switch). Since you never
"light" the fuel lamp ... I suspect you aren't getting the "short"
from the sending unit ......... shorting the two wires will prove if
the problem is with the wiring or the sending unit ..... If it is the
"sending unit" perhaps you can take it out and "fix" it with out
having to order a new one.
