Vic,
The "coasting enrichment valve" should slam shut on each carbureator
during deacceleration. This cuts off the path to the secondary pilot
air jet and "richens" the pilot mixture ......... this reduces the
chances of igniting the mixture going out the tailpipe to the extent
that it explodes. These valves are on the side of each carb under the
nylon cover w/ three screws, (inside looks like a minature slide
diaphram). Or ....... these could be working fine and the mixture in
the exhaust is being leaned out due to a leak in the pipe. IMHO .....
