Does anyone know for sure? There is a red safely flap covered switch in all
front line fighters that the US Air Force and all of it's allies employ.
It's called the "V-Max" Switch. It is wired in the closed position during
peace times; but in times of war, the fighter pilot has access to this
switch, usually located under the right canopy rail. If he finds his a** in
a sling he can throw this switch which allows him to over rev the turbine
thus gaining higher velocity I.E.: V-Max. Is this the origin of the name?
