Sorry to read that Paul has sold his VMAX and is taking a smaller role
in the list.

My question concerns the fuel pump. My 86 VMAX is one of the ones that
keeps shutting down on steady rpms (4k-5k)
I was replacing the fuel filter and it had one that is clear and I
noticed that the only time the fuel seemed to flow was when the throttle
is in idle. The flow at idle did not look very strong but I don't know
just how much should be going through it.I took it out for a ride and as
long as I kept going back to idle often the bike never shut down. I
don't understand what turns the pump off and on. I don't want to just
start replacing parts to find the problem. Any advice, as always, will
be appreciated. I have been waiting for almost 3 months for my back
ordered service manual.

Chris
