tranny woes

I have to replace my tranny .... has any one ever tried a venture tranny?
are you able to use them in a Max (do they fit?) 
and is there any benefitin doing so?
any info will be greatly appreciated

p.s. any one going to go to the yamaha star days in cheyenne, wy at the end 
of august? should be really cool
