After rebuilding my transmission and putting the engine back in the frame, I
started having a problem with my rear pinion and U-joint assembly that I
cannot seem to determine why. The problem is with the rear seal on the
pinion assembly. Something is causing the bottom side of the seal to crush
and then it starts leaking oil. This has happened twice now and to replace
the seal you have to have an expansion washer repacked in the pinion
assembly and as usual it's on backorder again from Yamaha. The only change I
made was going to solid mounts on the motor. If anybody on the list has
encountered such a problem your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Kraig, I've been using one of the Purolator filters that has the glass
center section with no problems. You can see partices in it that have
the consistantcy of powder. Nothing has gotten by it yet, I've even sent
some to people that haven't been able to find them locally.
