Whoa, hold on there John, 

the formula isn't relating MAXIMUM HP to MAXIMUM TQ. It relates the HP at a 
given rpm to the TQ at THAT rpm. You even proved it yourself when you stated 
that the TQ at 6000rpm is 78.6 and the HP ALSO AT 6000rpm is 90.

HP = TQ * rpm / 5250     or    HP = 78.6 * 6000 / 5250   which is 89.82857143 
(well aaaaaalmost 90 hp)

AND  

HP = 70 * 8000 / 5250  which is 106.66666667 (hey, where'd that .06666667 
go???) :-)
