The lead clogs the ca-do-la-tic(not sure of the spelling) converters of
modern day cars and causes the converter to over heat and cause a fire
hazard. This ultimately lead to excessive back pressure on the exhaust
system which in turn will cause bucking of the engine. Un leaded does not
really "burn cleaner" it just enables the inverter to operate which makes the
car "run cleaner." Leaded gas was in vented as a way to prolong the life of
your car. The lead in the fuel acts as a cushion on the valve seats. The
valves slam shut and smashes the lead vapor in the gas against the valve
seat. It makes a better seal also. When leaded first came out you use to
have to pay more for the leaded than the regular for this benefit! Without
this, if your engine got extremely hot, the valves would start forming spot
wields over the years with the valve seats. This would ultimately lead to
burnt valves and the death of the engine. Modern day engines get around this
problem by utilizing "hardened" valve seats. BLA BLA BLA... What it all
comes down to is: if you vehicle does not have a ca-do-la-tic converter (I.E.
the V-Max) leaded is better for it.
