John, dump the Splitfires, change back to std NGKs.  I won't bore you with some of the stories I had from customers when I was with M&P, take my word for it & change them ASAP.  I was averaging 90 - 100 before reserve light, & I've been caught out by the reserve a few times (I never seem to get that last mile needed to reach the nearest fuel pumps..) :-(

Thought for the day, John: If you want mileage before performance you don't buy the bikeworld's equivalent of the AC Cobra.  Fuel up, burn it off, get some more ;-)

Subject: Fuel consumption ?

Having recently purchased my Max I notice that the fuel warning light comes on after 90 miles
is this average or should it do more ? The bike has a K&N filter and splitfire plugs fitted (by previous owner) how can I tell if the bike has had the carbs rejetted ? get more MPG ?  Th bike runs real good, very smooth and very fast but I have heard of people getting over 40 MPG is this true ?
I would be interested in any advice that would assist in the increase in MPG as here in the United Kingdom petrol is very expensive and MPG is a major issue rather speed.

Thanks,  John.
