Chrome scoops

Hi folks, I am a new member of the mailing list as well as the V.M.O.A. I ride a 99 V-Max with stage 7 jet kit and Hindle "stealth" pipe. My question is I have seen a lot of V-Max pictures where the fake intake scoops are chromed ,can I do this myself (polishing) or do I have to order new ones ?
