Steve,
You should of course do what you want to do based on your comfort
level, time, interest ... etc ..etc ..etc ... but IMHO you should buy
yourself a carbtune device and sync your own carbs, (then it might
actually even get done). I think they are around 70-75 bucks USD these
days ... You use them just like mercury tubes but they have stainless
steel rods in them instead of mercury.

or get regular mercury tubes, vacuum gauges, the physco suck meter
that they put in the top of the carbs ... Any of these devices will
allow you to do this yourself. Trust me you will be glad you did.
After you sync the carbs you can better evaluate any remaining
problems you have with your low end performance .. but the way it is
right now you can't be sure that all the cylinders are even
contributing down there.
Otherwise .. if this is too much trouble at this time then try to team
up with a local member who is already doing their own tune-ups or get
it into the dealer ... It is no fun riding if it isn't running right
.......
