Heidi,
No ... you can't do this. The US '93, (or the "purple" one if you are
in Canada), was the first year for the larger diameter forks, four
piston front calipers and the larger rotors that went with them. I am
sure these components can be fitted to earlier front ends with an
adapter of some sort but there is actually a better solution.

The better solution consists of fitting Nissan four piston calipers to
the 85-92 model years ... this has been done by several people and is
an absolutely five star SOTC modification, (SOTC simply means "Sit On
The Curb" ... it is so good .. the first time you test it out you just
have to pull over, "sit on the curb" for a few minuets and get a
grip). I am pretty sure Mario was the first to try this .. but he only
did "ONE", (this is like cooking a single brownie and then eating it
yourself). Patrick Ahearn later put together several sets before
moving his remaining stock over to RMSportmax, (Furbur) .........

Following is a copy of a message from John Furbur about the brake
conversion that appeared on the list last October:

I have purchased the remainder of Patrick Ahearn's adapters for Nissan
4 piston calipers, and have just made a deal on a quantity of good
used, low mileage caliper sets as well, and am now offering complete
kits to upgrade your 85-92 MAX, for $200. & shipping, complete(just
add your choice of brake lines, and using your existing MAX rotors) I
am having the adapters powdercoated upon return to CO the end of the
month, and sets will be avail. to ship approx. the 15th of Nov. I will
have 5 sets in stock initially; I will see how it goes from there, and
restock accordingly....
Thanx!

John

PS. For those of U who are wondering, I am taking over from Patrick
Ahearn,
making these brackets; he has kindly given me his blessing to continue
making these adapters, as well as selling his remaining inventory. A
big
thanx to Patrick for this, and for his great idea for making the MAX a
better-stopping beast!
