Thinking back about 5 years the thing that sent me down the road of endless
mods was a problem with the small end of the
 connecting rods on my bike.Mr. Max does not like to go into the red part of
the tach at all (not to say that you did that originally) sounds like a
factory problem.Is the problem with the gear rounded dogs?if so have the
dealer pay special attention to the number 2 shift fork (maybe bent) its
cheap to replace now  (I've also been there).The rods are one of the weak
points in the motor I currently run Carrillo's and they are bushed with
bronze,with the stock rods the wrist pin bore of rod is not bushed so the
bearing is ductile iron the same material as the rod itself and if what I'm
assuming at this point
is correct your rods have an elongated hole at that bearing.In any event
what the dealer is probably thinking is that you missed a shift rounded the
dogs on second and messed up the rods which is probably not the case but
thats how they think.
