Another $.02, I also had alot of problems with the concept of a 4 cylinders into 1 exhaust tip, working beter than a 4 cylinder into 4 exhaust tips. If you apply real world experiences, it would seem that more exhaust tips means more places for the exhaust to leave the system = better peformance. WELL, the oppisite is true, to a point. Expent gases flowing through a exhaust have a flow pattern that is akin to water flowing through a pipe. As the "water" flows past the collector(where all 4 exhaust pipes meet in a 4-1 exhaust) it has a drawing effect on the opening of the other tubes causing a slight negative pressure in those pipes whick inturn draws the spent gases out of the combustion chamber allowing a cleaner chamber for the next intake. If you want to see a real world example of this, take a water puddle on the floor. Now place a high pressure water line in the center of the puddle with the water jet horrozonal to the water surface. The jet of water will draw the ! water out of the puddle even though you are actually putting more water in. Can you tell I am bored at the Checkpoint?
