Steve It was me that said two finger lock ups were possible. Thats not to say I lock the front wheel all the time - if ever. Any bike will lock a wheel if you don't think about what you are doing. With proper weight transfer and progressive braking effort you can hold the wheels just short of total lock up thus getting maximum braking effect. One thing I will say though, because the max is so heavy, it is hell on your tyres. Having done some bike racing I know my limitations and a well adjusted max will often stay within limits before the rider reaches his/hers. It's amazing just how low you can go on a stock max before things start to touch down. I have out ridden sport bike riders on my stage 1 (118 rwhp) max because they either had no confidence in their bikes or were just to agressive on brakes and throttle. Sure they can come past me on the long straights but we have plenty of corners here in the UK also. Technique is everything. Cheers Each to their own. > ------------------------------ > > Date: Thu, 07 Sep 2000 18:12:19 -0500 > From: S_Moore <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: VMAX_list <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > Subject: R1 front brakes on a VMAX > Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > > Someone posted a message that said the front > brakes from a Yamaha R1 > is a direct > replacement for newer VMAX.........they also stated > that they can now > "lock up" the > front brakes using 2 fingers ???
