What a woman, your'e a lucky man. I personally believe each bike is different
but my new stock '99 didn't need any more than the pilot screws turned out
between 2.5-3 turns each. Shimming needles with stock pipes only made the bike
too rich. I suppose maybe a .010" shim would be the maximum needed. I tried
.020" ones and then put it back to stock.
I don't believe the pilot jet changes are applicable to a stock pipe bike.
P.S my wife didn't buy my Max for me but we're still together after 22 years.
One reason is that the day I arrived home with the new Max she actually came
outside and said "that is the most beautiful bike I've ever seen." My
sentiments exactly.
