Here's something which was posted on the GTS list:

"You want to know what else happened at Deal's Gap this past
weekend? There were 13 wrecks at the Gap this past weekend,
6 were taken to hospitals and were listed as critical, one
lost his life (on a Hayabusa). I have little interest in
    EVER returning to this place!"

I know how much the VMOA loves Deal's Gap (as do I). But please
be careful out there. It may not be you, it may be the squid in
front of you that can't handle it. Let's not be the ones becoming
statistics. (besides, things like this are liable to get the
local law enforcement to really crack down on it- don't wind up
 in jail either) >>

I know what you mean kelly, I've lived in east Tn. all my life, I know the
Gap better than most, I rode sport bikes before my max and know the
different riding styles you have to have for these bikes. Everytime I go
there I see alot more bikes than there use to be, and a whole lot of
"rookies" there for the first time, and this has made me rethink my riding
style. ( maybe I'm getting old, but maybe wiser.) Everyone needs to get alot
of riding time under their belt before riding this road. I'm lucky to be able
to go in the middle of the week when the traffic count is low and alot safer.
