Kraig,
I have 30+ years dealing with supercharged and turbo charged engines. I
also have an '82 yamaha factory turbo bike that I play with.
So,,,, it is one thing to cobble together a turbo setup for the strip.
However it is at least 50 times more complicated to get a setup correct for
street and highway driving.
Example: you need to retard the spark timing when you go on boost and you
need to retard the timing even more if you start to "ping". How are you
going to do that?????
Are you going to "PULL" the fuel/air mix from the Carb or carbs???? if so
get ready for turbo-lag that you can time with a calender.
Are you going to "PUSH" the air thru the carbs then they have to be in a
pressure box AND what are you going to do about the fuel pressure
requirements????? fuel flow will stop when the boost pressure goes positive
unless the fuel pressure goes up at the same time.
These are just the first BIG problems to deal with,,, there are others.
I am not saying that it can't be done.... just know what you are getting
into and don't spend any money on kits that haven't PROPERLY delt with all
the engineering problems (I know of none,,, they may be out there.I'd have
to review them to say).
I've toyed with the idea of putting together a twin-turbo kit that would
realy work, but it is a BIG job to get it "RIGHT". 200+HP at the rear wheel
on 91 octane with docile manners around town is appealing.
"Here Suzuki,Suzuki,,,, I got something for you!"
