Hi Guys,
Lower octane gas (87) is ALWAYS easier to light off than higher octane
gas and has more energy in each gallon,,, FOR THE SAME REASON! Namely the
higher octane stuff has a lot of its small molecules components (the easy to
burn stuff) either removed by extra refining or neutralized by additives.
At high temps and pressures the small molecules go off on their own
(knock).
