Oh yeah... the "Grips". Well they aren't really complete without the
bar-end mirrors. ;^D And after all the "fun" we had getting them on, the
left one came off in my hand the first time I really twisted the wick.
Seems the inner and outer shell are held together by (drumroll please)
...friction! So after a liberal application of perma-tex I can now twist to
my hearts content. The fun part is though, I got to find this out in the
pouring rain.
I was so excited with my new toys that I broke all my own rules and took my
inaugural ride without a helmet, gloves, wallet, cel phone, pocket change,
or jacket. Got about 10 miles out and managed to stall it on a feeder while
waiting for traffic to break. The battery was on its last leg and chose
then to act up. Jon told me that one man couldn't push-start a VGAS
modified Max. Not so. A 300 lb pissed-off man can start one quite nicely.
Controlling that sudden blast of HP in the pouring rain is another matter.
I impressed upon my Pakistani friends at the Texaco just how advantageous it
is to have a large parking lot.
Make no mistake though, I'm having the time of my life.
