John is having trouble getting e-mail to the lists and has asked me to forward this..... Scott Not getting out again, Hmmm. Here it is , please forward it to tech list and egroups and sayegh.org ,please call me at the shop to confirm. thanks . -----Original Message----- From: Jon Cornell <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Saturday, October 23, 2094 2:29 AM Subject: Donald's education money >Hey, this is a tech list ,right? How about some educated information from the source in liew of one persons opinion based on no foundation. Sure a tech list is for sharing and gathering of information as well as opinions on assemblies ,application and product review. We all ( let me re-phrase that). MOST of us subscribe to this list to learn more about a bike we all >have a passion for. I'm in that group . I own several different motorcycles, for as many different reasons. Different bikes for different purposes. As anyone who knows me can tell you though, I have a strong passion for my Max. >Because of this personal feeling I have expanded my business products into the VMAX realm and do so with much research, time and experience . My products are based on an engineering background and developed with hrs. of data collected on tools such as the chassis dyno. Anyone of my clients will tell you , I dedicate myself to details when I produce a new product or work on YOUR Max. I've held off writing this letter a few times before when a certain individual would make remarks on my products with NO foundation. Opinions are great. Good , bad , fine. Everyone has different tastes, especially in styling, however performance claims or reasons for pricing should be left up to those with hands on experience. Since Donald has chosen to toot his tarnished horn once again, in reference to my products, maybe he should pull up a stool instead of dropping one on someone for a change. I've never met the man or even spoke to him , why the crap? There are therapy groups which can get you the help you need. Take it there. If you have "issues" they have "tissues". Interested in information and not >gossip......... read on. In reference to my VGAS system, his comment made to a certain individual was that the PCW setup was "better" (there's some scientific background) and cheaper. There's another good one. First off John Gainey and I get along fine and have a mutual respect for each others product. John takes a conventional mounting approach with the Keihin >flatslide carbs and I take an outboard approach. Each for our own reasons. >Since I can only speak for myself ( unlike others who like to explain for me in their "opinions") , I give you my reasons. My primary design was to get >cool , "clean" , what I mean by clean, is undisturbed air out from under the bonnet where the carbs are fighting for the same volume of heated air ushered into the velocity stack in a very restricted area without option for stack length , which has quite an effect on torque and hp #s' and where you find them. Why the hood scoop on a pro-stock car? Hmmm. We also now have the option for creating a totally functional ram air scoop with stacks underneath. The whole signature the VMAX is known for! There are many people out there who at first sighting , thought the Max scoops fuctioned, later to find out it was not to be. With the introduction of the VGAS configuration, we also got the bonus of the additional attitude they portray. Key word for you there , Donald. As for the $100.00 cheaper between PCW and UFO , here once again, it's just a matter of personal preference to the Max owner. Both our systems utilize the same carbs, but are quite different in not only appearance but components. Apples and oranges. PCW system uses linkages for sync, and satin manifolds. UFO uses complete new throttle cables which split into 4 and fully ground then polished intake manifolds. Plastic stacks which come with the Keihin carbs from the factory in the PCW kit and fully polished, spun aluminum stacks custom made at UFO for our system. $355.00 in additonal product and labor. This is the reason our system has a higher cost. PCW's system works fine as does ours . I have worked on many of the PCW setups at my facility and it too is a fine product. For someone to compare the two is not fair, price or otherwise. You go buy a Holley carb for your car or a Carter carb , you'll find different manufacturing methods as well as finish application, not to mention price. On to the new UFO 4 into 2 exhaust. Donald raves about the Marks system, great, fine , congratulations, hope you both live happily ever after. I've only seen pictures of it so I have no opinion. I've seen no dyno charts so I have no scientific foundation for performance gains. Wow, >imagine that . I don't know of any companys who readily supply consumers with indepth dyno research on their exhaust systems. WE do. UFO pipes were designed on the dyno. Any pipe I sell will be supplied with the jetting info neccessary to create peak performance on your Max. Any problems feel free to bring it in to me and I will personally dyno tune it for you . NO CHARGE. Anyone else out there with as much confidence in their pipe, is more than welcome to make the same offer. I WILL get results. Donald once again made reference to the price of my system being more than Marks . HEEELLLLOOOO. UFO is COMPLETELY thermal coated not to discolor , inside and out. Dual oval carbon canisters. Ever price just a slip on carbon canister for a sport bike, average price ---- over $300.00 each! Time to step down from the podium. Well, group , there you have it. The defense rests. Just trying to give people all the PROPER information. Remember the importance of customer support , if I didn't care, my fingers wouldn't be so damn sore. And people, this wasn't written to instigate a red-assing of individuals or companys, merely a LONG over-due defense to a misaligned individual and some concrete information for your Vmax folders. As far as the old dog and the new trick........ I don't think so. Respectfully, Jon Cornell. -----Original >Message----- >From: donald smith <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >To: V-MAX TECH LIST <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> >Date: Saturday, October 21, 2000 11:39 PM >Subject: Re: UFO 4-2 Exhaust > > >Scott, sorry, but I'm glad I saved 300.00 and bought Marks'. > >Don "Old Man" Smith > .............................................
