Materials: 320 grit sandpaper.
400 grit sandpaper
600 grit sandpaper
polishing compounds (3 different kinds)
polishing wheel (not the same as a rubbing compound
wheel)
grinder (if you don't have a proper setup).
Start by sanding out (lightly) all the scratches or clear coating with
the 320 grit.
Next repeat the entire procedure with the 400 grit and then again with
the 600 grit.
The finer the paper gets, the more pressure you can apply.
When sanding in a finer grit than the last one, go in a different
direction.
When you have finished sanding with the 600 grit, attach the polishing
wheel to the grinder and fire it up. As the wheel is spinning push the
rubbing compound into the wheel. Now turn the wheel on the item to be
polished and begin polishing until you reach the desired polish. You can
achieve an even better polish if you go to 1000 grit after the 600 grit.
Follow all safety precautions and use the grinder with care as it, or the
item being polished can buck back, grab and toss the item, or pull you
into the work being done.
Good Luck.
