H,
That may be true ... but the front fender part number and description for a 49state '93 Vmax from Yomama is  ...
1FK-21611-00-P1 - FENDER REAR (DARK VIOLET COCKTAIL 1) .....

For a '93 FJ1200 it is ....
1TX-Y2165-80-P2 - COVER, REAR FENDER (DARK VIOLET COCKTAIL 1) ...

One day last year ... I was riding with a bunch of Harley people; one had just had his bike repainted ... apparently at great expense and everyone had been admiring it all morning ...... At one point someone mentioned to him that it looked just like my "purple" Vmax. He made it clear that his bike was painted at a shop that only worked on "American" bikes and that for what he paid there was no way it could be a copy of what was on my Yamaha. His bike also had a blacked out engine which is apparently pretty popular now and that was another unwelcome similarity to the Vmax.

We never got along that well anyhow as he had also convinced the crowd that his highly modified twin could outrun any Yamaha, (clearly a limited view of the world as he topped out about 120 mph and no downshift was required to dispatch him from a roll on above 40 mph ....).

At the lunch break ... tensions were sufficient enough to warrant getting the Harley and my '93 front fenders side by side for a close examination ..... they were exact matches .... I announced that my paint was original factory and that the painter must have went to a lot of trouble to copy it, (right down to the flake) ....... A few months later one of the guys told me that everyone had been harassing him to such a great extent about having a "Yamaha" paint job ... that he sold the bike in disgust and refused to ride with them anymore .....
