I bought Don Smith's braced swingarm when he installed the Mark's exhaust.
I was shocked at the difference the swingarm made. In hard cornering the
bike used to "pogo" whenever I hit bumps of any size and want to stand up
straight (out of the lean). As well, the bike used to want to squirt out
from under me on wet roads or during burnouts (almost always to the right).
It actually seemed a little dangerous (although I got used to it). When I
got the swingarm from Don, I installed some 3" exhaust tubing in the mouth
of the driveshaft tube to reinforce the swingarm during torqueing of the
pivot bolts. Other than that, the swingarm is installed the way that Don
built it. The difference is unreal! Cornering is much improved, and the
bike will launch and run straight (even when the nitrous is on). In
addition to the performance gains, it looks very "Road Warrior". I would
suggest this mod to anyone (even better is to sweet talk Don Smith into
making a couple).
