I think the fill weld idea for the scoops is hopeless. The aluminum is 1.
bad and 2. thin.
I like the idea, however. I think your best bet might be to use one of the
composite scoops available from some of our European brothers. Exactrep in
the UK makes them, as do several other outfits. I think if you start off
level and then grind your name it'll work better. Hard to chrome, though.
