These results look highly bogus to me, especially since the loops are
allegedly 100x faster. More recent versions of the test (e.g. 174) produce
more reasonable results, but are dominated by the cost of the initial slice
call, so are not very useful either.
I highly doubt that setting length is slower. Closing this, unless
demonstrated by a proper benchmark.
