samples/shell.cc seems to have the same problem.
I wonder if the samples are out of date; should they be doing anything
different
to work without snapshot=off ?
I see d8.cc has some snapshot-related stuff that gets invoked when you
build with snapshot=external. Hrm. Maybe I'll look at that, and/or try
building on mac again to see if the problem occurs there, too.
