Lats year, there was the speed argument. But now Firefox has demonstrated that it can interpret Javascript at comparable speeds even with all the "encumbered" e4x code.
With the new craze to replace everything Flash with HTML5/JS, javascript codebases , like those for games, have the potential of growing insanely, making E4X more valuable for developers than ever.
